BELIEVING YOU CAN is the first step to ACHIEVING - 2nd Edition



The Believing You Can is the first step to Achieving program has been developed as a universal school based positive psychology intervention for upper primary school students.

 

The intervention is a proactive strengths-based approach to support student development, using education and skills training to foster wellbeing and positive growth among young people.

 

A number of educational and psychological theories as well as therapy techniques were drawn on in the development of this program, including CBT, attribution retraining, mindfulness, relaxation, solution focused therapy and positive psychology frameworks.

 

 The intervention incorporates nine essential sessions and one optional revision session. Each session runs for approximately 1 hour.

Sessions incorporate group discussions, games, role-plays, stories, videos and CD’s to create an engaging and interactive learning environment.
 
A student workbook including information pages and worksheets.
 
Home learning activities support each session and allow students to practice their newly learnt skills in their everyday lives. 
 
Posters, worksheets and activity sheets are also provided for parents and teachers wanting to support students within the home and classroom.
